3. Other biological databases

Introduction

Out of primary and secondary databases, there are numerous specialized databases that gather various biological data.
For example:
  • PATHWAY – database of biochemical pathways and molecular interactions
  • PDB – database of biomacromolecular 3D structures
  • OMIM – database of human genes and genetic disorders
  • Medline – database of bibliographic resources in the field of biomedical sciences

Task no. 1

Search out the entry of enzyme citrase in the database LENZYME (part of SRS)and try to answer following questions:
  1. What is the EC number of this enzyme?
  2. What group of enzymes does it belong to?
  3. What biochemical pathway (or pathways) does it participate in?
  4. What substrate does it utilize?
